3D Design: Jewelry
Wave Ring Set
This project took inspiration from my admiration of ocean waves. As the final project in my degree, I used this design as an ode to my time on the East Coast. Each wave is in constant motion - seemingly individual at times, yet never fails to make its return to remain as part of the whole. I wanted to capture this essence through a set of rings - together yet apart. The ring is designed as a single piece of jewelry with individual rings attached at the bottom to represent the togetherness of the ocean as a whole. It is designed, however, to look as if each ring is uniquely one on its own to resemble the individuality - albeit short-lived - of each wave. Two additional rings sit loosely inside the primary frame as a final element embodying the flows and motions of water, reminding us of our unique and dynamic states.
Ideation
Research & Process
After finding my inspiration from the ocean, sketches were my primary focus to translate this essence into a physical form. Incorporating movement into the ring required constant trials and redesign.
Programs Used
Rhinoceros 7 (3D modelling)
Takeaway
This project equally challenged my creative and technical skills. After finding my inspiration I spent my time designing many pieces before designing the one that truly captured my vision.
